I'm after getting a radio+Sat Nav for the GTi. I had considered getting a second hand RNS 510, but they are a lot of money for a second hand unit, and dont have bluetooth/hands free which I would really like.
What I am really after is...
Sat Nav (or the ability to download a maps app to use that doesn't need constant internet connection)
Bluetooth handsfree
Smooth, not fussy appearence
<£500, and if possible <£300 - I'm not after anything fancy with lots of tricks
There are too many unit out there and I can't get my head around why some are £1000s, and others are much cheaper.
Anyone got any suggestions for me?

xtrons do an android head unit for very cheap around £250 and has dvd playback, satnav and bluetooth.
I installed one on a Toyota and downloaded Sygic satnav app on it, paid £16 one off for the maps and away I go!

I've seen that, but heard pretty bad things about Xtrons in terms of quality, functionality and subsequent customer service when things do go wrong. I think I'd rather spend a little more and get a better quality product.

ok, or you can get an RNS 315, cheaper than an RNS510, has DAB and also Bluetooth built in

I've had a little look at those and whilst they are cheaper, they're not much cheaper and the unit itself all that pretty. The main issue being it's a lot of money for a second hand unit!
I've found these... http://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/sph-da120/specifications
It seems as though it will support sat nav, but I can't make out how it does this. Does it have to be using Apple CarPlay? Will it support sat nav with Android? Will it run sat nav without a phone in the car? Does it have maps installed on it? If not, could I install a map app for free? Will it use shed loads of data running maps from the phone (if that's what it does).
Will this fit a mk5?
As you can see ICE is not my strong point!
