Title: Ipod adapter help
Post by: Nasir on January 23, 2010, 05:01:02 pm
Well I almost had it and now I think I know why the adapter didn't power up. Where does the brown wire go? I'll try and attach a picture

Where does that brown wire go? One of them was without a clip and I clipped the end onto the clip I got with it, assuming they clipped into each other.

Looks like someone has made up a "no cut" type loom to feed off of the main quadlock connector.

As from what I remember of installing one of these the loose wire just needs to be be connected to a suitable ground/earth connection.

The quadlock connector comes out from the blue case. Do I pull one of the wires from the quadlock connector out? The manual doesn't make anything clear.

I can't be 100% sure it appears the loom has been modified.

Do you have a multimeter to check if the two connectors are joined?

No I don't have a multimeter. The unit was advertised as new and came sealed uswel. The manual shows something similar but I just can't work it out. http://www.mediafire.com/?bommpgdygjf

You need to take the plastic case off of the connector shown at top of your second picture down.

Then remove the pin as shown on the instructions from the quadlock and put this into the plastic case you removed.

The loose pin from the ipod loom now goes into the quadlock connector and then the two plastic connectors go together  :happy2:

Ahh right, I get it now. How does the brown wire come out of the plastic clip? It seems reluctant :sad1:

Cut the clip in half and glued it back together

I'm not sure if the wire comes out of the radio or quad connector. Because the picture doesn't show the connector, it looks like the back of the radio.

The wire from the quadlock has to come out, and go into the free clip, this clip then goes into the other clip. The brown wire goes into the space that the other wire just came out of, hope that makes sense. Might need coding uswel.
