Title: Iphone connectivity
Post by: david85williams on October 31, 2016, 09:51:03 am
Hi all,

I recently purchased my first MK5 GTi ED30. It has been fitted with a mk6 radio. I would like to connect my phone mainly just to listen to music through Spotify. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Help would be really appreciated  :happy2:

It looks like this:

Thank you.

You need to retrofit a recent BT module. You can find them on the forum For Sale section, Carsystems.eu or ebay. I'd look for a 7P6 module.

Thank you. The unit has an Aux function. is it possible to fit an aux cable to the back and just plug the phone into that?

That's the cheap option. You can't control the music like skip tracks or see the music name in the radio, since it's analogue audio. Depends on your budget to make this work.

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate the help. Can you tell me if I need some sort of adapter for the AUX cable?

You just need to fit this socket in the dashboard near the ESP OFF switch: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172302058117 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172302058117)

I looked at all the options and gave up trying to get an iPhone to work properly (and cheaply) with an RNS510.  I just put my playlists on the internal hard drive instead. Job jobbed!

In a similar fashion no ipod or iphone, loaded 32G mp3's onto SD card and play that off my £300 rns315.
Works well for me, full title/artist info, and no ipod left in car!

I use Spotify in the car all the time so I bought an XCarLink with Bluetooth.

Don't really use the phone part of it but for streaming music I'm very impressed - all hidden behind the dash so nice and neat.
