Evening all. I have the standard GTI headlight with some Halfords 120% brighter bulbs in. I'm not really sure they were worth the £29.99 each but not to worry. One has just blown and I was looking at my options. Has anyone tryed an LED bulb uprade and how is it? Any recommendations would be really helpful.

So you wouldn't suggest an LED replacement in a standard headlight?

I've never came across many people putting led's in the dipped and main beams I can't imagine the light output being great. For standard halogen lights the osram night breakers seem to get good reviews and provide a whiter light than stock bulbs. If you want hid's then fit projectors don't put them in standard lights you'll blind everyone.
Give a search on Google or here it's been covered a good bit

Try Euro Car Parts for most make of bulbs.
Don't pay full price though as there's usually at least 30% discount codes knocking about. Sign up for their newsletter if you can't find a code. I've got nightbreakers and they're good.

Most halogen bulbs you buy will probably leave you disappointed.
As said above get a HID kit fitted with some projector lens headlights and you will never look back.
Can do all that for around £230 and makes the front end so much nicer.

So if I went down the aftermarket depo route with HID's is it a simple plug and play? Nothing needs coded, don't need to modify the vehicle and all the auto lights will still work?

Yeah pretty much. My hid kit didn't need any extra cables to battery or anything like that. They just plug into your existing connector lead and you just mount the ballasts somewhere.
And yes my autolights work fine. Probably one of the best mods I have done to my car apart from remap.
