Title: Mk5 Gti Cruise Control
Post by: fliprio on November 02, 2016, 08:24:42 pm
Evening all

Another cruise control thread - I have done a couple of searches but not turned up anything that solves my problem

The cruise control light randomly wet out last week and wont turn on, it hasn't been intermittent or anything like that.  While it was being services by my local independent they plugged it into vag-com, no fault codes at all, but strangely they couldn't even see the cruise control sub menu to let you interrogate it.

They have cleaned up the contacts within the stalk and checked wires are attached properly but its still not working

Any pointers on where to go next? is the fact that you cant find it within vag-com pointing to anything?

I had the same issue where the light went out and wouldn't come back on. I removed the back of the cc stork and found a broken wire might be worth a look mate.

Go into steering wheel module, open measuring blocks and check what happens when u flick on off switch. Its quite often the on off switch screws up, especially on the old Style cruise stalks

New stalks are cheap from ebay, might be worth spending the £15 for a new one.

Here's the measuring blocks for reference: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Checking_Cruise_Control_using_Measuring_Values

Might be a fault in the clutch or brake switch too, the whole system needs to be working perfectly for it to work
