Hello all,
I've seen this topic covered a multitude of times but just before biting the bullet and ordering some of the highly recommended Millers Nanodrive 5w40, I wanted to double check that I'm absolutely buying the correct oil. Please see the link below to confirm.

That's the stuff.
I would fill the engine with a funnel that has a gauze in it. There have been reports of the additives dropping out of the oil and forming clumps at the bottom of the tub. The gauze will trap those clumps. You don't want them going into the engine.

Now, just to swallow €180.00 for oil for free delivery. :sick:

If you're buying that much oil you should read up on storage conditions.
I'm sure it's fine but major temperature fluctuations over long periods of time in a still container may cause settling out of some particles.

Yeah I think the Subaru community first discovered it. IIRC, someone had a big lump of particles block the oil pump pick up which caused some engine damage.
For that reason I've steered clear of it and use ester without bits in it, from Motul or Silkolene etc.
I know it's a small risk, but not one I'm prepared to take on my daily!

Mick, look up opie oils on eBay, you'll get it a damn sight cheaper with the excange rate

£79.18/€89 is a lot of money for 5 L of millers, I paid less than £55 last month when i had mine changed :surprised:

Even at "only" £55, I have to say I'm astounded...filter out the clumps of additive in your "top quality" race oil, so that it dosent block engine oilways... :surprised:
And its a known problem... :stupid:
Better buy a cheap food blender and run your Millers thru that before you use it :signLOL:

Your missing the bit where you shouldn't believe all you read on the tinternet :signLOL:
Just cause one bloke read it on a forum.... I've been using and stockpiling Millers for a few years now and have had no problems, i don't think one post should taint a quality product

I have no axe to grind either way, and am genuinely shocked. Don't take me the wrong way please.
I don't buy Millers, primarily for VFM reasons. Put anotyer way- I'm too mean.

On my old bike forum, the guys used to swear by Halfrods semi-synth bike oil When I got my gti bought some Halfrods VW/Audi 5w30 for top ups. Most on here seem to prefer branded options.
I'm currently using Millers nanodrive. Can't say I notice any performance difference but it does use less of the 5w40 than it did 5w30 (it's Stage 2 mapped).

If you found particle blocking the oil pick-up how would you know they were from the oil and not from another source (carbon deposits, metal particles from engine etc).

I'm still not convinced, either way...

Same here, consumption is ddowwn over the 5w-30 so less top ups= better VFM.
Back in my GTiR days we used slikolene pro s (now fuch)
Subarus do have a habit of eating there own engines so that explain the clumps lol

Not to throw fuel on the fire, i'm just playing devils advocate, but the oil in that facebook article isn't what i use in my car, and not what any of this community would use either, 5w40 CFS Nano tech, different oil me thinks...
