Post by: GTIlee on January 24, 2010, 03:30:57 pm: Is Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A1 suitable for a Mk5 GTI with 28k on it? Might be a stupid question but some told me this is the correct one just wanted to check!

You have to use an oil which has VW 504.00 written on it, so that means Castrol Edge 5w-30 not magnatec.

Castrol Edge 5w 30 is the correct oil, its pricey at Â£44.99 for Halfords but worth it. Annoying thing is for an oil change you need 4.6l and it only comes in 4l tubs for you need 2 tubs, that right Â£90 just on some oil!
