Title: lost lock ring for wheels - see picture

um... I want to take wheels off to paint calipers but lock ring is nowhere

Go dealers and ask to borrow theirs nicely. Or if it's aftermarket you will have to get it taken off by smashing a socket over it or welding to it.

They look like aftermarket locking nuts so you'll need to do what slix said.

As above,a double hex socket hammered on to the locking wheel bolt

thanks slix - lock ring i needed is in the post  so no need for banging in the hex wrenches or ebay lol
