Any help on This please? It's not really bad, just slightly heavier than what I was used to in a polo

May be a better description of what the above means!

Ie the steering feels heavier?

Difficult question to answer because a few things can influence steering weight....

Geometry
Tyre pressure
Tyre width
Heavy session at the gym
Posture
Etc

I'd describe the steering weight as 'robust'.  It's not stupidly light like a big Bimmer or Merc, and it's not stupidly heavy like a MK2 Golf without PAS.  Somewhere in between.

Ah yes @Pudding (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10733) Having moved from a Mk 2 w/o power steering to the Mk5, the Mk5 feels light. And I'm losing muscle-tone on my arms

If you are struggling with mk5 gti power steering, then there is something wrong with it, or with you???

We have several fiat 500 in the family and they have a "citi mode" button which renders the already dainty power steering utterly without any resistance at all...known a "poofter power" to the males who then have to drive them   :signLOL:

not heavy compared to the last 2 fords i've had. but i prefer the nice weighty feel.  it can be changed via VCDS though  :happy2:

Feels 'Nicely weighted' to me. My wife had a Clio 182, and she prefered the 'feel' of the golf including the steering.

Really?  I thought only certain ages / models of GTI could do that?  Got any more details?

I used to have a polo gti 06 plate a few years back - gone to a mk5 gti and the steering is heavier, I've brought another mk5 pirelli following and merc, felt like it had no PAS compared to the lazy merc I had !
