Title: Boost gauges
Post by: Aparoon on January 25, 2010, 03:10:41 pm
I wouldn't mind fitting a boost gauge so i can see whats what, is there any you can get that can be fitted out of sight as I will never have one on the dash its not to my taste, taste is very subjective...

Cheers  :happy2:

If it's out of sight, how are you going to see what's going on?

Yours pathetically tastelessly,
Robin

   +1

Its ment to be close to your steering wheel so you dont have to look away from the road to view it.

Pathetic or not, its the best tool ive bought for my car.

In the cupholder bit, then you can cover it with the slidey drawer?

or even get a digital one ? (not as good imho)

Ive seen one in the airbag passengers light just nr the central vents....

or get the kufatec thing (assuming it displays boost now , and you have MFD ) ?

....I think the top Defi model stores the info - cmdrfire knows all about those. The Defi is probably the best but comes at a price.

Thing is, Aparoon, that the boost gauge needle moves so fast that you do need it in sight - Trust us on this.

Btw, good to meet you at The Pod - Faces to weird forum names etc  :drinking:

Cheers Robin, I do wonder why I didn't call myself ChrisEd30  :signLOL:

John'o - I was thinking of the little drawer on the rhs near the light switch but I suppose its little out the way, I just don't like to see them on the dash, its my thing everyone has one  :stupid:

I wouldnt be without mine and feel it should be in line of sight but thats my opinion only  :drinking:

other option would be to fit it behind the vent slats , camoflage styleee, so you can still read it but its less obvious?
(in fact I might try this myself  :signLOL:)

lots of options, in the tray is fine , maybe even on a longer lead so you can just 'bring it out' when you want to ?

your options are endless  :pomppomp:

You can get them as a heads up display too you know. You won't see it on the dash, but projected up before you on the windscreen. Not cheap though! :surprised:

Yep, the NewSouth looks totally oem and I've got one but I'm attracted by the functionality of Defi's top model.

I'm sorry John_o i have the kufatec for just that reason, right in front of you and as oem as can be, but unfortunatly of all the vw that the  kufatecsolution fits in our 2,0 TFSI can't show boost from the canbus, sucks  :sad1:

Do you reckon the latest revision of canbus may support boost pressure?  I think it's on revision S now?  Anyone know either bits?

The latest version of the canbus for my 06 gti is the Q revision, but no, you cannot get boost via canbus on our engine, when you buy the kufatec cable it clearly states so in the documentation.  :sad1:
