Good evening gents picked up my gti tuesday night and have discovered a little annoying tic / tap from the back of the engine once warm from cold engine is silent
So took car into my local garage and had them have a look today i asked them to drop sump and clean oil pick up and thats when it alk went pete tonge so to speak bakance shaft had snapped bolt so a quick job turned into few hours end resault no more gear on balance shaft thought this might be my issuse turns out its not .
Garage has an option on whats possibly gone wrong as he says i have new cover for cam shaft chain and what looks like new fuel pump too so he thinks top end chain/ tensioner has failed leading to bottom to go what do you think seem logical to you ??
Any ways this annoying rattle is still pressent so thinking ill get another cam chain tensioner abd swap it out what you guys think??
Sorry for long drerey post but been quite a stressfull day or 2 of ownership so far :(

they mentioned that they put a bolt (thread-loced) back in

ive recently discovered I had a similar problem to this. I bought a replacement engine before discovering that the balance shaft had seized, snapped the sprocket and wrapped the chain round the crank sprocket. so I deleted the balance shaft and now have a spare engine :)
