Hi, Ive been looking at buying the Edition 35 and just wondered if you guys think they will hold the value like the edition 30's do? Is now a bad time to buy one with the mk8 soon to be released? or is the Golf r or Audi s3 a better buy? A bit of friendly advice needed before I spend my life savings on a car please guys. I'm looking around the 15k mark give or take a few quid.

As much as I love VW's, I'd never spend my life savings on one!! :stupid:

^THIS. Keep the savings in the bank and get a loan for the car. Mk7 GTIs are coming down in price, that's where I'd go. Much improved over the mk5/6 platform

Depends really. Some people pay a lot of money for MK2 Golfs if that's what they want. Some people pay £1000s for an old chair when they could buy a new one from Ikea for 20 quid.
Personally I would skip the ED35. I know (like the ED30) it is, again, a Golf with a detuned S3 engine in it, but the MK6 was literally just a MK5.5. The MK5 and the MK7 were/are completely new ground-up rebuilds, and the MK5 heralded a return to form for the GTI, so is more endearing and appealing to enthusiasts because of it.
I think the MK7 looks bland and the MK7.5 is no better, so Edition 30 it is :happy2:

If its a MK6 then it has to be the 6R ;)

Add a few grand to the budget and buy a well kept 6R. Thank me later :happy2:

With a bit of haggling you could get this....... :happy2:

Hi,
I have an Edition 35 and really is a great car, I think the rarity value is only bound to increase, there are around four times as many Ed 30's compared to Ed35 so I think will be a good investment. As for the Mk7, I tried one and was disappointed, the seat is harder than the Mk5/6 and not as comfortable but depends on your frame...
Cheers
