Title: My mk 5 golf gti has lost all power
Post by: Jamesmkieran93@aol.com on December 26, 2016, 10:53:10 pm
I bought a golf gti 2 days ago , the first day it ran perfect but today i noticed that it was losing power then its lost all turbo power and sounds like the exhaust is blowing . Can anyone help me find out what the problem is ? I love the car and just want all the power back . It has a milltec exhaust system , stage 2 remap , k and n air intake system running at about 350bph (apparently) . Iv read on a miltec forum that the flexi pipes brusting is a common fault but when it was losing power threw out the day it sounded like the turbo was whistling so i havnt go a clue whats wrong ! Iv asked 3 diffrent garages and got 3 diffrent answers .

Does it make a hissing sound when you switch the engine down?

A hissing sound could just be as simple as a pipe come off. Easy fix.

Best bet is to get it into a decent garage who knows these cars. Where abouts are you?

Iv found the problem the clip that holds the turbo to the exhaust has gone , so there is a 4 or 5 mill gap . Do any of you know the part number id need to fix it ? Im made up its only somthing small i can stop panicing now haha

As an aside, usually you need some fueling mods, not just an exhaust and fllter to reav stage 2 and 350bhp...
