Sounds like you got through to the parts dept manager 30 yrs experience
-
Yeah, asking them for a quote to code a Canbus. I don't think we were speaking the same language at the end.

Lool i was shocked i was lost for words when they didnt know what i was talking about :signLOL:

Had a very similar experience at VW main dealers Birkenhead/Tranmere, face to face.
Denied all knowledge of cam followers for fuel pumps and any related "issues".
All I wanted was to buy one, not make a warantee claim!
Yet another example....why do we pay so much for a car with FDSH?
-
I think the names 'cam follower' and 'diverter valve' etc. are names given by independent garages/us forum folk. The official VW names for these parts is something different (unsure what exactly - maybe someone can find out?), hence the confusion.
I had a similar situation when my car was in for a service: I asked them to update the cam follower. They didn't have a clue until I provided them with the part number.
As somebody else has mentioned, just give them the part numbers to avoid any confusion.
-
When I ordered a cam follower the TPS centre rather helpfully gave me a sun visor clip
-
Anyone know the part number for these parts ? Thanks
-

HAHA, wasn't VW Newport was it?
I rang to get a price on renewing my CAM chain and tensioner and they cam back and told me "Sorry sir your car doesn't have a chain its belt driven" which I politely replied correct but it also has a Cam Chain and tensioner which is situated behind the HPFP.
"Right ok will find out now for you"..............."No sorry sir you defo dont have a chain on your car its belt driven"
:rolleye:

Mine was TPS Leicester.
And yeah I had that same response from Leicester VW too!

Had the same reponse from my local VW parts dealer as well when I enquired for the Cam Follower, according to their system it's known as a "tappet" hence the headscratching from their department. Think the part number is 06D109309C and it's about £30 the last time I bought it and comes in a cute little capsule.
No issues with the Diverter valve though, they may try to offer you the 06F145710D (Rev. D) DV which is the piston type valve. 06F145710G (Rev. G) is the rubber diaphragm version which supposed to hold boost better despite its long term fragility.
-
Would the gbf dv+ be any better then the rev g im about confused on which one to get
-
It would be because it's a fit and forget part whereas the G still has a chance of splitting. I'm not sure how common it is on the rev G but I opted for the DV+ as find it resolved my boost loss issues on my rev D and also held it longer.
Hope that helps @Shamm (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=16968)
-
So is the gfb dv+ a straight swap with any of the old rev's @shoaybmakda (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=12148)

Same thing happened when I asked about coding an updated canbus in my local VW dealers they didn't have a clue what it was :/
