Before I do the rounds, I just wondered how much you pay for the insurance on a modded car with one of the specialist companies ?
Eg, stage 2, not living in a big city, full no claims, 10-12k mileage per year.
Cheers

-

I am 53 but no Golf for me :sad1:
Where has RedRobin gone ?
-
Loveley High House prices, final salary pensions and low insurance premiums....some of the things that make me glad to be 55+! :signLOL:
To the above I would also probably add grown-up children :drinking:
Not so keen on the accompanying sciatica, knackered knees, and high cholesterol tho!
Paying £350 ish, for stg 2 and all bit ed 30, for self + wife, otherwise as OP. Rural, not garaged.
All mods declared...of course!

Ahh!!! I remember life before they invented cholesterol, it was so much fun.
I'm with you on the kids having flown the nest, oh how I miss them!!!!!

I was recently able to celebrate my first visit to youngest daughter's new house....
By turning up the central heating to 25C, turning on all the lights, and helping myself to most of the contents of her fridge :drinking:
I did also think about drying a single pair of my underpants in her new tumble dryer, for 2 hours, just because I could!
It was nice to have them all home for Christmas but.....
-
Why do I feel suddenly young here..... :signLOL:
-
I agree with grey golfster on the good things of getting older.
Our grown-up children are still at home. They say it helps me fight off dementia, if I could remember what that is. That also tell me it keeps me young. It does, until I look in the mirror, and see my dad looking back at me!
I'm 62. Costs me £365 to insure the GTI. Live in rural Cheshire, garage the car in the barn, fully comp (with max no claims), no limit on mileage, including business use.

Getting back to OP's Insurance topic...
Have been getting insurance premium quotes for my proposed new car.
Tiguan Diesel 150HP auto 4x4 SENav, cost (note i didn't say value) £32000.
Coming back at a little more than my Stg 2 - and a bit - Ed 30!
I know Tig invoice price is 4 times the "value" of the Golf, but you would think Third party/public liability aspects of the premiums would have a greater effect?
After all "value" of Tig (should I be unlucky enough to have to claim a TL) will be about £20k in 6months :sad1: :signLOL: :surprised: :scared:
Makes the price of my Ed30 insurance look quite reasonable, given that it probably has 4 times the performance of the Tig?
