Title: 00779 - Outside Air Temp Sensor (G17)
Post by: dave1814 on January 05, 2017, 04:21:51 pm
Hi all!

Just wondering if someone can help me with the following fault code...

Address 17: Instruments Labels: 1K0-920-xxx-17.lbl
Part No: 1K6 920 962
Component: KOMBIINSTRUMENT VDD 1012
Coding: 0007403
Shop #: WSC 00671 067 57207
VCID: 6ED24880796EDD322B-803A

1 Fault Found:
00779 - Outside Air Temp Sensor (G17)
010 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent

My outside temperature reading is crazy on the dash, it ends up in minus figures when I drive the car (when it clearly isn't) and also plays havoc with the A/C!

So far I have tried...

1. New genuine ambient temperature sensor
2. Cleaned all connections
3. Reset the all faults using VCDS

Is it possible this could be a faulty Instrument Cluster? (that's about all I can think of from googling!)

many thanks,
Dave

Could be some iffy wiring between the sensor and instruments, especially if the readings are sporadic!

Isn't their a second sensor placed somewhere?

Think I've read a while back someone had same problem as you. Think the solution was a second sensor somewhere that was broken.

Try search google for it.
