it recently started where my radiator fan comes on soon after the turning on the ignition it turns on and stays on throughout driving and then turns off around 2 minutes after turning the car off. It is loud and annoying and doesn't need to be on. there is no sign of over heating at all the car is running at regular temperature engine temp around 90 degrees. And no warning lights at all.
I took it to a auto electrician to see if he could find a problem...not much help he have me a fault code: fan 1 control circuit high: P0692
Could anybody help me on how to fix this am thinking it could be a sensor but not sure which or where to start?

Hi George,
See my posts here with virtually the same problem.
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,110617.0.html
The main fan (the larger one) has the fan relay circuitry built into it and they can go faulty.
Unfortunately, a New fan from Volkswagen Ireland is €350!!
I will keep you posted if I manage to source one for a better price. You might do the same if you find one cheaper. Cheers buddy.
Regards,
Dave

With my car the big fan was on all the time. It sounded like an aeroplane was going to take off. As you know the car has two fans a big one and a small one. In my instance the small one never came on. it could be turned no problem. Went to volkswagen and nearly wet my pants at the cost, so looked about on the web and found that the fans can be opened up. On inspection i found that the brushes for the fan motor were stuck in their brushholders. Removed brushes tidied/cleaned and reinstalled and now sweet. Normally the small fan is on (for the air con i believe) then if stationary for a bit the big fan comes on but only turning at a slow speed not the aeroplane taking off. Worth a shot. There are videos procedures on the fan removal. :happy2:
