Anyone in the north west who can fit this for me? Ive got the panel and the fascia.
Cars a 09 GTI

It should be a straight swap on your year no wire swapping. Plug and play

Even though its a mk 6 panel being fitted to a mk 5?
-
Yes should be straight swap on early model mk5s they needed some wires changing round.
Your year should be fine.

Is there a definitive guide for what is needed to do this? there seems to be a lot of different part numbers for the actual controls and I have a late 05 model which means i'll probably need to change wiring?

And specifically reply #56. This is what I used when I did it in my '05 GTI and made it easy to follow and it all worked

Even later mk5s need wires changed. I have a MY2009 GT Sport and a MY2008 GTI Ed. 30, both with the mk6 climatronic panel fitted.

Is there any benefit to this, or is it purely a cosmetic upgrade?
-
purely cosmetic i reckon. I'd like to do this as i think the blue is a little outdated now. But that's for another day :D

If you have an RCD 510 or RNS 510 the climate settings come up on the display as you alter the settings which is pretty worthless but cool!

Cheers guys :happy2:
I actually like the red/blue lighting  I was in much older VWs for a long time though, so the MK5 is still modern for me
