Am I being thick because I cannot get the wires out to switch the whole unit?

Push the green clip backwards towards the bonnet of the car and it will release
-
I think you need to pull the light green part back to release the connector.

This is the new unit that looks like the wires should come out the back but I just cannot get them out and it split the original in half trying to pull them apart?

I tried that guys but it will not budge, as I said I pulled the other part out while doing what you said, also how do you get the stereo surround off to wrap it?
-
As the guys said - you will need to pull the green clip. It can be a little stiff but will need a pull.
The stereo surround is held on by a couple of screws at the top but the bottom will need unclipping but be careful not to break any tabs. Use this video as a guide:

Thanks for the replies guys but as I said I've already tried that and pulled it apart trying to get the wires to come out, I'll try again tomorrow.
Also I know how to take all that off in the video as Ive already done it but want to know how to take the stereo front off to wrap it, not take the stereo out :happy2:

Have you tried pushing the front part of the original switch back on, then as Rich says, slide the green clip away from the switch towards the bonnet and it should release. Use a screwdriver to push it away from you and hold the front and rear section together at the same time, until the point it releases
-
Someone could have removed it before you and broken the clips so they glued it in.
Get a narrow flat head screwdriver and prize away all 4 corners of the old hazard but make sure you don't damage the wiring and block.

Finally got it off, well my old mother did lol, still took some budging though :phew:
