Title: Reverse sensor
Post by: Bozz on January 18, 2017, 11:33:02 am
Hi everyone,  The reverse sensor on my mk5 has started making a strange sound ? Before when you select reverse it would bleep slow then faster & then a long bleep but now it's making a long bleep all the time even when the car behind is 2 miles behind you. Has anyone got any ideas what the problem could be please. Thanks

Common issue on the EOS.

It's a broken sensor most likely, if OEM it will show on VCDS and requires a replacement, since you have a few sensors, you will need VCDS to show which one(s) is at fault.

Alternatively, is the bumper filthy? It can possibly pick up the dirt and the information is relayed as a car in close proximity.

Little trick of the trade if you don't have vcds. If you put the ignition on and select reverse go to the back of the car and put your ear on the sensor if it's ticking it's working but if nothing it's dead.

You can also feel gently with your finger
each sensor and they should "click" every second or so
