Title: Autotech HPFP internals

i am changing my intake version A cam to a version B cam and at the same time i am changing the chain and tensioner and com follower but i was wondering is it worth buy Autotech HPFP internals as i will be getting it mapped soon after doing this, does it allow to be mapped more also can i still drive it normally when fitted Autotech HPFP internals but not mapped or does it need a map before it is able to drive

Yes, you can drive it normally with the autotech internals installed no problem and yes with them installed you can get a higher state of tune. Different tuning companies call it different things. For APR it is called '+'. ie Stage 1+ or Stage 2+. For Unitronic it's called HPFP. ie Stage 1 HPFP or Stage 2 HPFP.
Not that I recommend Autotech fuel pump internals.

I did have them on my Mk5 GTI. APR tuned to Stage 2+ but the seal that the piston slides inside failed allowing fuel into my oil. The stepped design of the piston places extra pressure on the seal that it's not designed for. And of course you cant buy just the seal, or even just the part that the seal is in. You have to buy a whole new fuel pump.
So I replaced the Autotech internals with Integrated Engineering internals which come with the part that holds the seal along with a correspondingly larger seal for their internals.
Granted, my car did already have 130ish thousand k's on it when I installed the Autotech internals and in hindsight I think it was already starting to fail, but none the less I wouldn't get them again.
There is are thread on here about them causing this failure. I'll see if I can find it. A quick google search for autotech fuel pump upgrade failure should yield the results you're looking for.

Also VIS internals are worth considering if your looking at the internals route. Heard nothing but good things about them recently. Cheaper then the Autotech internals at £260 which now includes stronger HPFP bolts, with no apparent disadvantages. VIS themselves claim their internals are infact better then Autotech - but they would. I have a set on order so obviously biased.
