Right.....
Car is due next month.....
Need the most affordable place to purchase and a reccomendation for North West fitting for the following.
Short Shifter - Forge Front to rear and Side to Side
H&R Lowering Springs
PD140 remap - reccomendations and suggestions welcome
Just spoke to awesome and they want £155 to supply and fit the Short Shifter and £159+VAT for the H&R springs for the rocco and a whopping £167.50 plus VAT to fit them.
If I have with my limited research found the worst products on the planet then please shout!

What model Golf are you buying, what model year is it and what speed gearbox? I have both Forge shifters that you want, and will sell them both for £70 + postage if you're interested. (That saves you at least £70 from the official Forge prices!)
Its a Rocco and its a PD140 6 Speed - Awesome reckon its the same as the Mk5 GTi 6 speed Kit.
May I ask why you're taking them off - I presume they work alright - if they do PM me some paypal details
-
Awesome should do you a combined lower price if you ask :happy2:
Prosport? or any competent garage should do well at this.
shifters you could fit yourself.
Springs good quality (dont forget alignment....)
Remap dunno, usual suspects (JPC, T88OM should be able to advice on dirty remaps )

there fine mate, im just fitting some Coilovers pretty soon ;)
-
Pretty sure the VWR SS kit is only £75, then fit yourself! :happy2:
-
All this talk of fitting my self is very :chicken: worrying :chicken: - bought myself one of those huge Teng 14 drawer roller boxes that only just fitted through the door of the workshop I'd have to blow the dust of it first......
Thanks for all the replies Chris you have PM, Jay they're 235/35/19 Sport Contact 2's at the mo.
Nath is the VWR kit side to side and fore and aft or just fore and aft??
Is it really neccessary to do an alignment on a brand new car? Sorry for the daft questions but I could bore people with brake math all day but Im a complete nube when it comes to anythng else :sad1:
-
VWR kit is complete, ie fore and aft and side to side afaik...............

shark perfomance over on briskoda has been doing alot of mapping on diesels recently with positive reviews. in fact the guy with the A3 and R8 calipers had a sharkperfomance remap iirc. did you have a go in that??
i reckon the side to side shift is not needed imo. the throw isnt that big left to right, its the front to back that i found was to long.

On their website, they want £105+ VAT. Which amounts to £123.

Dave, thanks for your PM. All sounds fine, but you may want to check out what Greenouse is talking about before confirming to me if you want? I've heard that the VWR part is the same as the Forge item, so i would be surprised if both the front-back and side-side together would sell for £70! Let me know what you find out.

Thats deffo gone up in price then as 3 of us all had them done at the same time!
It may just be the front to back on the VWR unit. :happy2:

me and Mark getting the shifters off

Interesting! I found that the side-to-side made the whole shift action 'complete', and matched the short front-back throw!
my thoughts were that if it was to close id start missing gears, i have the front to back set at medium throw and its just right for me. would love to try a car with both on though
-
dropping the suspension , I would advise an alignment tbh. (maybe have it all fitted , let car settle for a short mileage then get it setup)
anything else you want to do suspension wise though? then get it done once

As an alternative to an aftermarket short-shift how about one from the TT-S/TT-RS. Much cheaper than the Forge offering, OEM and a definite reduction.
Perhaps someone with ETKA can help regarding part numbers.
Found this 8J0 711 046-B @ £26ish you can't go wrong.

Thanks mate. Slapped hands with monsieur WhiteGti already.
Tried a mk4 with the front/rear +side/side and I really liked it, I had the Mk1 TT in my 130PD and felt it only went 1/2 way there.
Cheers

Worth a try.
