Title: Opinions Please on Rear Diffuser
Post by: Rob GTI on January 28, 2010, 02:38:28 pm
I'm trying to tart up the rear of my car in a subtle way  :laugh:, Before I put my Milltek on I was thinking of getting the diffuser part vinyl'd in a matt Carbon fibre effect or a plain matt effect

Heres an R32 diffuser with carbon (although not vinyl) I know its not the same but you get the idea of the colour contrasts. What are your guys thoughts?

Plain mat IMHO will only contrast with a clean car so I would cf it  :innocent:

I just got hold of a cheap spare and had it painted, was going to Carbon wrap it but the colour they painted happened to match the wheels!  :laugh:

That looks sweet, and would probably work on black as well although if I didn't like it its not removable.

The rear diffuser is a 5 min job to take on and off so if you have a spare you could!  :wink:

Even with an ED30? I only used the R32 photo to show the black / carbon contrast as I couldn't find one with an ed30?

Rear diffuser in Cf Wrap. On red, but perhaps photoflop it?

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi154.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs264%2Fphilmcavity%2F025-1.jpg&hash=4a20f854fe1e0a74f10ffae6be780b5327f940da)

Have had wraps on the car for nearly a year and still looks great, no pealing or punture impacts to report front or back.

Worth doing as like has been said, you can always remove it and it keeps the precious paint underneath imaculate.

Ah, as you didn't say I presumed you had a dirty two!  :confused:

In that case no, the bumper lower half is in one piece!  :happy2:

@rob

They did it "Raccoon" in Durley for £70 from memory.

They didnt need to drop the exhaust , although did make it tricky to wrap around the tunnel.

Some other in process pics as youve requested. :wink:

Mirrors done, but would not reccomend the longevity of doing this..

and i think it makes a huge difference to the cars appearance.

As she used to look before the other modifying got well and truely underway :ashamed:

I was thinking about the front splitter and mask as well, but had concerns about stone chips. How much was the front splitter if you remember? By the way it looks good with the Milltek.

Front splitter was £50 and had the Black grill masked wrapped aswell.

I have looked closely at the wraps for puntures from stone impacts and still there isnt any, seems to cushion any impacts very well.

All told , i would say around 2 hours in total with all things they wrapped.

I had the door shuts wrapped(front and Back doors) aswell as a freebee which ive since removed them with the addition of the gloss Huffs i brought.

Alex is a top bloke at Chameleon and you will pay about a third less than Racoon.  :happy2:

Did work on my R32, SteveP's car and Wigit's Scirocco.

Those Prices nathan are more expensive then raccoons.

It really depends Rob, what area you live to decide.

North= Leeds Raccoon
Midlands= Chameleon
South=Durley Raccoon

Each will do a quality job.

Well Racoon must have dropped their prices as Alex was keen to be able to do it cheaper?
