Hi
I need to mount a new cat, and the cat i have on now is the original one.
Can i mount a 3" downpipe with 200 cells sports cat without getting a foultcode like p0420?
-
No... With a 200cell cat you will get EML come on.
-
I can also find a 400 cells cat, will that be okay?
-
Pass.
What are you trying to achieve?

You'll probably get a code from any cat worth having (ie that flows well) but it's not a physical fault. If you can live with it, and maybe a dash light, I wouldn't worry.
Ideally you'd code out the lambda sensor that flags up the 'fault' with a decent stage 2 remap. And ideally the downpipe and cat would be of decent quality. Things like cats can't really be done on the cheap.
I'd consider a second hand oem replacement unless you were serious about doing it right first time.

Well I have had my 200 cell cat on for about 6 months now and no EML has come on ever.
If it does come on then I will just reset it and wait another 6 months for it to come back
I'm not saying yours won't come on, but they don't come on that often as thought.

I need to buy a new cat to my car, since i got a p0420 code, so i might as well get a 3" cat instead of the smaller one i get on now "i think it is about 2,5"
an oem cat is about 650-750£ in denmark, and for that price i can get a 3" sports cat, so why not get a sports cat when i have to change it anyway :happy2:
