Never seen this before.
Driving to work I noticed a rattle in the car. Sounded like a stone rattling round behind the dashboard at first.
A few roundabouts later I decided the rattle was coming from both the front AND rear. WTF I thought.
I had washed the car the previous day so wondered if I'd dislodged something.
Anyway on the way back from work I noticed that my interior lights where not working - only the footwell and button lights were working.
Anyway I put two and two together and thought perhaps a bulb had come loose and blown the fuse.
Checked fuse - fuse OK.
Removed the rear interior light cover to discover this:

Every single one of them has either popped or snapped off.
What on earth could cause that to happen!

Chinese quality control.

Any recommended red LED (bright as possible) that won't fall apart within days?
-
My car was full of those junk LED lights when I bought it. I immediately put standard filament bulbs back in it. Zero issues since, funnily enough!
-
Buy the Osram 4000k LEDs for interior!!!!! Really worth the money :)
Putted them in all my interior lights from top to bottom and it gives the best light you can have.
- If you like a more bluish shine then they also make them in 6000k and 8000k but that's way to bright imo.
The 4000k gives a more pleasant shine than the high kelvin ones - Well that's atleast my opinion.
-
Are they the right resistance to stop CAN issues?
-
I don't get any can issues with it. My can is revision "AN" I think.
Only the footwell lights blinks 3 times when you turn on the car if you haven't got a CECM that supports LED lights in the footwell.
-
OK thanks. I will stick to filament bulbs then
-
Mine are from china and still working after 1 1/2 years
-
i've had this. the resistor that prevents the can bus errors makes the bulb get hot and i think the bulb desolders the LED's i think next time i'll buy normal bulbs and disable the bulb tests
-
I was after red really to match my foot-well LEDs.

Don't know what the craze with all this mega bright LED stuff is about meself, why would you want your car interior to be as bright white as an operating theatre I'll never know? Must be getting old.
I much prefer the subtle OEM red submarine lighting to give it that WWII U-boat atmos. :jumpmove:
-
Me too. I like the standard blue and red lighting with prehistoric filament bulbs

these prehistoric bulbs take a lot of current is why a handful of us like the leds

I feel rather similar about flood lighting the rear number plate with LED's...so it's easier to read????
I do have LED superbright Fog and Reversing lights tho, and love 'em.

Because the added resistor doesn't draw a comparable amount of current at all....
