Help I've nipped out to supermarket and thought I'd put some screen wash in and lever was a little stiff but now my bonnet will not click down, have tried moving latch backwards and forwards to free it and pulling on bonnet release catch few times before trying again and still no luck!! Any suggestion please guys!?

Okay thank god I've managed to get the bonnet clicked down again! :/ man why is it the mk5s have so manyy niggly things go wrong with them? Yes all car or models have weak point lead but it's been one thing after another with mine and is full vwsh 2 prev owners and not long gone over 100k in my 1.9tdi- yet I've spent over £1500 on it in last year alone :/

There is two screws on the bonnet catch. usually need to undo them and pull the unit up a bit. then tighten the bolts again.
been there, not fun lol

I always find a good cleanout with wd40 helps, then a healthy squirt of white lithium grease once its dried, usually stops it from jamming :happy2:

Small screw driver and WD40 then some grease
Job done

Cheers for the advice guys will get on it asap and see if that helps! I wasn't sure if it was that or the actual hook part on the bonnet itself being a bit stiff? But I will definitely give that a go thanks for your help :happy2:

There's your answer.

What you mean?

Mines recently clicked over 100k miles and it's just those age related niggly things that all seem to rear their heads in unison.

Believe me eventually it will just stop working and your bonnet will be locked shut. It's a fairly common fault it seems on mk5's. Bite the bullet and get a gen replacement, lube her up and sit back happy in the knowledge that you've future proofed one issue on your car. I've had 2, both have gone kaput at only 65k or so, car kept garaged etc!
