Has anyone tried these expenseive but seemingly top quality leds bulbs...http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/501-w5w-17-samsung-3623-gold-canbus-leds-5000k-white/ (http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/501-w5w-17-samsung-3623-gold-canbus-leds-5000k-white/)
After the bold sport ones throwing up random dash errors with auto lights enabled... i am on a quest to find some quality side light leds to match my Osram CBI Xenons, that do not error at all!
Cheers.

Hi buddy, not sure where in the UK you are but the guy I use is based in Bradford.
Products are very well made, very cost effective and I've never had a problem with anything I've ever bought from him.
My number plate light units are 2 1/2 years old and one of them has just started to fail, I paid £25 for them. I've had various interior/sidelight LED's and HID kits from him across the years and all have been perfect.
If you can't get to his store, this is his website; http://www.xenonbulbs.co.uk (http://www.xenonbulbs.co.uk).

Is there not an OEM LED option? Not necessarily VW, but other makes?
-
Not sure why people are paying £25 for some led/smd bulbs that probably cost 50p to make.
I paid about £3 for my sidelight led bulbs, and £3 for my numberplate leds and they have been fine for the last 2 years.

@SamMas (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11629) - thanks for the recommendation, ill take a look. Do you have any of the led side lights from that guy? If so do you have AUTO lights and do you get any errors?
@Pudding (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10733) - i have been looking for any OEM versions, surely Merc or BMW use LEDs for side lights nowadays.... or maybe they have removed sides in favour of DRLs.... any one on the trade know if any OEMs do high power LED side lights we could use?
@slix (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=14819) - i hear you but do you have AUTO lights? If not then cool but there seems to be an issue with the system when you have AUTO selected and enter the car, the "no error" leds show a dash error, until you turn the lights on/off again....
-
Yea I have auto lights.

@DrG_GTi (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9708) I dont run the sidelights in my GTi as I'm running the US indicator's. However I have the LED number plate unit's, absolutely faultless until about 2 weeks ago, like I say I've had them 2 1/2 years now with Auto Xenon's, never had a problem!
@slix (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=14819) These aren't just bulbs you put in the standard unit, they're a full LED unit (P'n'P). I actually looked into the cost of them with the Canbus cancelling element built in, they were around £15 to make.

That's what I was thinking, because it will be the only reliable solution out there.
Not even that Samsung 3623 will be reliable (despite being a recognised name) because it's just the LED itself they make, and if you look at the spec sheet for it, Samsung state it is for indoor use only. They are not suitable for a harsh environment like a car. Some random A.N.Other Chinese knock off shop constructs the circuit boards and housings.
The only thing I've seen what I consider to be close to OEM quality is Morimoto - http://www.morimotohid.com/led-lighting.html/

Cheers @Pudding those morimoto look good, with those in mind and not wanting to spend £30-40 inc postage from the US I am going to try these similar COB leds along with some error cancelling resistors if needed ...I'll let you know how I get on. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201667474740
