Title: Rust on Rear Subframe?
Post by: Juliand on February 11, 2017, 06:47:33 pm
My car passed its MOT a couple of days back - 2005 36,000 miles. No issues or advisories, but I did ask if there was anything I should be aware of, and the Tester said it was in very good order overall, the only thing was rust on the rear subframe, which he said was a common thing. Unfortunately I didn't get to see it under the ramps to have a look myself, but wondered how common this is. He said just surface rust, and nothing to worry about, but of course you do, once it's been pointed out. Any thoughts or comments on this, please?

Cheers

Honestly don't worry about it. That part of the car gets so much rain water because it's under the car.. if you really want to be scared get it on the ramps and look at the fuel tank straps. Seriously - if someone said my sub frame was rusty I'd reply with "ok thanks".
