Right, so you're looking at dSLR then.
My recommendation would be the Canon 450D :)
I have one myself.

Have a look at Digital Photography Review (http://www.dpreview.com)
American-based (reflected in the prices) but fantastic for some well-detailed reviews of many cameras, as well as a great search system.

Hello mat. If you can give me till tomorrow morning i will post up a long story and write up i have been working on with regards to buying or upgrading your camera. Should be some useful info in there on what to look for etc etc. Mike

have a look at a Panasonic dmc lx3 pref in black, is not a slr cam so still a nice size but the quality of pics you get are rather good,

I use the older version of that, the 400D and I absolutely love it. The 450D comes with the DIGIC-3 image processing engine. Either this or the equivalent Nikon would be my choice but me <3 Canon (plus my dad's got loads of lenses which I can nick)

And Im also going to suggest the 450D or if you want a nice but cheaper camera the FujiFinepix S700 is great too.

Dear Mat,
my lecturer has given me a website which reviews all camera's out on the market, so it might be of some use. I'll find it and have it up tomorrow. :happy2:

Lol I already suggested that site earlier in the thread. It's the one I use whenever I look for a camera.
-
yup thats the one our lecturer suggested!
-
well i got this today
http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/consumer/digital/digital-cameras/d-slr-long-zoom/finepix-s6500fd/View
i got it from a relative who had just got a 400d so said its yours for £40 and from a quick look at it i am very happy with it
-
I recommend the Canon 450d.
Got one earlier this month and finding it awesome.
-
Congrats on the purchase! i have the s700 and i find it to be a brilliant camera. I have full trust in fuji as they designed most of the principle systems in cameras. Take some arty shots and post em up!
-
i also have a Panasonic lumix DMC-TZ3 that i use all the time but as this Fuji was going cheap it would have been rude not to have it  will get some pics done soon. :happy2:
