Title: Cross Threaded Banjo Bolt
Post by: shoaybmakda on February 26, 2017, 11:48:14 am
Hi all

Just wondering if it's possible at all - when my cam follower got changed, the banjo bolt was cross threaded in the process (my build thread has pics of it for info - page 4)

Is it possible at all to get it out? Follower was changed but just for peace of mind, and also is it possible to get a replacement bolt? I assume they can't be costly from VW?

Thanks

Yes you can buy just the bolt, I bought a new one just to make sure I didn't end up having the sane problems as you. WHT000285C is the part number I believe.

Thanks @Octoparrot (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=14844) now to see if I can get the bolt out in its current state!

Would love to do the banjo bolt delete mod if I had the know how to do it

Look on the modifications forum for the hpfp, there's a list of parts that you need to be able to carry out the conversion. As for getting the bolt out, I'd loosen the pipes as you did before and then either get a pair of mole grips around the circumference of the bolt head or try and jam a larger spine bit or Torx bit in the bolt head, good luck!
