Hi Guys,
I recently purcahsed a mk5 GTI and i'm having some issues with it. Frequently when I set off/accelerate in any gear the car will drop revs and Kangaroo very violently until I let off the accelerator then if I try to accelerate again it does the same.
I get no warning lights on the dashboard but as the revs drop and its hesistating and jumping badly I assume its a fueling issue?
I have ordered new coils and plugs to fit to see if this will cure the issue but if any Guru's out there have seen/heard of this before and want to shed some light on it i'd be very appreciative!
Thanks!

Crankshaft sensor, will be the problem.

I agree with Rich - just changed mine after experiencing exactly the same symptoms!
Be warned it is a difficult sensor to get to but sorted my issues out after a couple of hours messing round under the engine
Have a read here at what I did

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your replies. I did some digging around and found that is was an issue with the ignition wiring loom. It had over heated and melted on the connector to the coil and not producing the spark to light the fuel - Hence the missfires. About £400 for it to be changed along with new wiring for the MAF etc.
I changed the sparks and coils myself as a precaution but no issues since!
