Title: Cheapest way to enable rain sensor closing windows
Post by: rotor on March 05, 2017, 09:43:44 pm
What is the cheapest way of enabling the option to have the windows closed when rain is detected on my MK5 GTI? I don't have the full height display, so I presumably need some sort of VAG COM / VCDS combo. Trouble is, there are so many options on Amazon, eBay, Gumtree, I'm not sure which one to get. Any advice?

Thanks!

I know this one works (for coding and everything) as I bought one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01M2U3T52/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Or cheaper still find a member local to you with a cable already and take them some beer ;)

Cheers! One of the reviews (1 star) mentions that they had to disable internet and antivirus? That sounds dodgy...

It's cheap because it's a pirate cable. It only works with the provided software, so if you update it, the cable will stop working. The software will try to update if it finds an active internet connection.

It's against forum rules to promote copyright infringement of pirate VCDS.

Your best bet honestly is to refer to the VCDS register, find someone close to you and ask them to give you a hand.
