Our R Line Polo 1.0tsi is due its first service and we wish to supply the oil for this first service. It is the same spec as the oil they will use but they sell for between £80-£90 , we bought the equivalent oil , Castrol Edge 5w30 Long Life for £33 delivered from Opie Oils.
So who else has done this and what advice can you give , thanks.
If VW supplied the oil at say £50 i would let them supply it but nearly 3 times the price is disgraceful.
Obviously taking it to VW as its under warranty and only a year old , but after the warranty runs out we will use our normal garage.
Thanks :happy2:

Good luck is all I can say, can't see them agreeing to it. Interested to know the result though

They won't do it as they can't guarantee your oil and then your warranty is invalid.
Say for example the oil you bought was purchased on eBay and it turns out they just filled a Castrol bottle with unfiltered sh*te and then VW uses it and your car breaks down. Who is at fault and how do you prove it?
Best bet is to negotiate with them to get them bring the price down.

If you can get away with it, good luck to you! I have done it with diesel Passat in the past, when i was feeling particulalry mean or peeded off with the poor attitude of the theiving robbing bastwards, and making it harder for them to make any more easy profit from me.
They can only say no?
Let us know how it goes! Hope it works for you.

Well the main dealer has got back to me , the oil they will use is £9 + vat a litre shell 0w30 , so i will be using their oil........
I will question those that told me it was £80+ and see what they say.

My local VW dealer have been happy to you use the oil I supply. The invoice then gets adjusted to by £12 per litre of oil. I paid £60 for 8L of Castrol edge 5w30 for wife's Leon service, so still have 3+L for top ups.
I take in millers nano 5w40 for ed30 services again totallly happy to use it.
My local Seat dealer would not use it, then after a lengthy discussion they said yeah we can use it but would not alter the price of the servicing. So went elsewhere :signLOL: it's why the Leon and ed30 go to my local VW which is cheaper than 2 local vw specialists. :happy2:

My dealer are happy to use my own oil too, so long as it meets VAG approvals. I use Mobil 1 0W40, which is 502.00 stamped, so they are happy to throw it in.
