So here's the skinny. I've hot a 57 plate mkv gti standard. Shes done 72k. Regularly serviced. Bodywork great bar the infamous wheel arch bubbling which is in hand. Shes going in tomorrow for cambelt, tensioners n water pump, fuel filter , plugs, n vacuum leak (pcv?) Anyway I luv her. What can i expect mileage wise out this hog - would be interested to hear about your mileage - who's got the biggest mileage???

Yours is just a pup. I am on 134k at the minute only a couple thousand I have done myself but still feels good to me.

-
2007 Eddy - 121000 miles....
Stage 2 n a bit....
Still spot on, and pulls like a train, with more need for traction than my modded suspension and PS4s can supply!
:happy2:

2007 07 57k, guess I need to get out more!!

Not many, 109K, but feels like it's done 209K! My point with the Corrado was "They don't make 'em like they used to"
-
Sold my Stg2 GTI DSG with 156k on, still pulled like a train after 2 yrs. They can take the mileage if looked after, I've got a heavy foot also

Spot on there buddy! :happy2:
I also run a 20 yr old golf cabby, and tbo, tend to use it as a bit of a skip! Despite being sat outside for 3-4 weeks at a time, it always starts first pull.
3 yrs no advisories on MOT, other than that rear number plate is faded and will need replacing soon. :notworthy:
I gave £750 for it 5 years ago...
Only 120k mikes tho.... :signLOL:

My 23 year old Corrado never failed an MOT. Get my ED30, stick an aftermarket downpipe on it, and immediate fail
-
214373 miles all driven by me, since I bought the car back in 04 when they was the craziness ;)
- Started bringing the car up to date and renew it summer 2016. Since the interior was looking abit worn and outdated due to no retrofits before last summer at all :stupid:
2.0TDI engine that's still going strong! Problem with these cars isn't the engine but the rust issues ....:driver: :driver:

My Ed. 30 with a BCS Powervalve TBE with sports cat passed MOT emissions test with flying colours. The MOT tester was impressed by the build quality too.

Hehe yeah.
Never really had the bonnet or anything else open my self.. Always had it through the garage to get parts and service replaced/done. Here in Denmark the taxes are way to high that we could afford a new car with the same specs than our mk5.
Looked at a Audi a4 5 door in good condition with the need to have parts from 2013 and that's like 35.000GBP :rolleye:

:signLOL: I open my own bonnet as I trust no one with my car :surprised:
That's terrible as I thought UK had the worst taxes in the world  tax soon we'll probably have to pay for air so we can breath i bet

My mate(not on here) has a standard mk5 gti with 209k on the clock. Driven it and it really feels like a car with a lot less miles

You're right about the rust!

My 07 Eddy is on 120k atm. Ive put on 30k of that myself at stage 1 and never had a problem except for one stuck caliper on the rear brake. I've also just had a coil break so time for some new Bilsteins but after having the front wheels off this weekend for a look I'm dreading getting the old ones out. All looks a bit 'sticky' in there :D.
Otherwise its been a pleasure to drive and I'm looking for stage 2 now.

Just ticked over 177k this morning on the way to the gym! :drinking:
And still on the OG Clutch and Pressure plate which I think is testament to how well its been looked after!
Im hoping it will go over 200k whilst in my ownership

Also ran on stock clutch until November last year.. Changed it when I got the car remapped.
So they can run for a long time if you're reasonable with it :)
-
2008 5 door manual 50,300 miles.
OEM clutch was OK until mapped then gave up.
-
57 plate GTI... 94k bought on 75k running solid
-
88,250 now. Just had first set of rear brakes :signLOL:
-
95k and still going strong and very much surprised a few people on last weeks trackday, especially a guy in an 8 month Golf R when we caught and hassled to pass him! :happy2:
-
164k still pulls strong... Bluefin stage 2 Map since 60k... needs a wheel bearing and rear caliper *anyone have a standard rear caliper knocking about NS?... but still a nice little motor :)

2007 ed30,
115,000 miles,
stage 2+ since 106,000.
I've had it since 96,000.
Other than an intermittently slippy clutch because of the remap, is all good. Needed 1 wheel bearing in 19,000 miles because of a faulty abs ring.
Even survived a rally down to Monaco last summer :happy2:
-
184,000 AXX, just had a full engine rebuild due to oil pump.

I'm still on the original clutch at 100k and it's been mapped since around 20k :jumpmove:

Tossing up whether to keep or sell my GTI and found this thread - hugely reassuring! Mine is about to hit 100,000kms (60,000 miles), so appears to have heaps of life left in it if I decide to keep it. Just have to sort the jiggly and jolting ride issues - if I can't, it's gone.

2012 Golf R on 50k mile, a 2008 Passat TDI on 133k, a Mk2 Golf on 130k (need to confirm) and a 1973 Beetle 1303 on 18k.
So in total I have 331k miles covered. Interestingly, the distance to the moon (approximately) is 240k miles, so when you look at miles on the clock now, try and see it as number of trips to the moon.

I have to ask about the beetle, engine rebuild or original milage? and any photos?

Not a GTi or even a Golf but I've got a July 09 registered Jetta 2.0 CR TDI Sport 140bhp with 150,000 on it. It's like Triggers Broom though  but that being the case it drives like it's done a third of that mileage and with all the main components replaced I'm hoping they will last for years and not need done again, hopefully outlast the car, with the typical rusty grotty mk5 bodywork killing it off!! Did not realise how bad these cars rust until I had bits of it stripped down and apart, although that's possibly because my car was apparently built in South Africa and is subjected to Scotlands wet, dirty salty roads!
-
2005 AXX with 160K, bought cheap with 159k and it drives and handles like a dream. I wasn't too put off by mileage as I'd come from a passat with 212k, albeit a diesel.
-
57 plate Edition 30 on 29k
Not even run in yet!! :signLOL:
-
08 Pirelli - Just over 76000 drives like new :)
-
07 plate ED30, 118k. Doesn't feel like it so here's to hoping it continues as I don't have any plans of getting rid anytime soon.
-
08 GTI DSG (no mods) on 72250.
Just got back to the UK from SW France/Spain. ~2000 mile trip.
Pyrenees back roads = lots of fun!
-
i have a picture of when my edition 30 was on 33333 mileage
