How many people are stage2+ on their Edition 30s and still running the standard intercooler.
I'd be interested to hear what your current settings are.
-
Not sure how many replies, you will get, I think most of us on Stg 2+ code are running uprated FMIC's.
-
Sure, I'm just curious to see really.
-
i think poverty on here is the only K04 guy running the std IC at stage 2+.
-
Tried it for a while with the Standard IC and found heat soak a bit of an issue on the spirted drives.
The uprated IC made a noticeable difference :happy2:

and his engine has gone "Poooofff". Take the warning
-
iirc his settings were pretty aggressigve as well
-
I had a PM from him earlier, he suggested he was running boost9 but I wasn't aware his engine/turbo had gone bang.
-
Would the standard S3 cooler be classed as an uprated intercooler? I am going stage 2+ also and by the sounds of it I am going to need to get a bigger cooler. Was thinking of the S3 one but would like to hear some advice on that!
-
The S3 intercooler has a larger core than the ed30 so is a useful upgrade, as is the THS intercooler and forge twintercooler.
It's not mandatory for stage2+, factors such as the revo setting, driving style (aggressive, on full boost for long periods of time in different temperature ranges etc) are also considerations.
Personally my spirited driving is very limited in terms of both frequency and duration so for me personally this is less of a consideration but others will disagree.

I'm on stock intercooler with stage 2 + map since yesterday done 500 km so far
just feeling sometimes fuelcuts or boost cut at high gear cannot tell what it is but still have
to figure out what it cause this. Mods:
TBE Milltek non resonated, Revo Stage 2+, KMD pump, dBilas intake, BSH mounts trans, engine and lower, BSH catch can etc ..
-
your signature stages a "custom remap"
If you're running Revo and getting fuel cuts I would check your cam follower and log the vehicle to find the fault
-
think he had oettinger before but has recently changed to revo

Really???!!

IIRC that was Jonny's old S3 - prior to him selling it - down to neglect of previous owner before he bought it back?

That was GIAC Big turbo file.. Nothing to do with Revo what so ever..

i havent got the intercooler yet until nearer to summer but my car is currently on B8 T5 F6 and it seems to go very well!! :driver:
has anyone tried running with and without a big intercooler at stage 2+ in the summer and how long does it take to get serious heat soak?? im pretty certain i will get a big intercooler like the TSH/APR but is the S3 one enough? i cant imagine the S3 cooler would be up to the job at this level similar to why i think i will save for big brakes rather than S3 ones, or am i missing something?? :chicken:
-
I wouldn't stay for long with the OEM IC with stage 2+. At 30 degrees external temp, IAT would reach 80-90 degrees on stock IC. Using the S3 IC would decrease IAT by about 20 degrees. Still, with S3 IC only I feel it still isn't enough when very hot outside. I'd say don't risk it. An S3 IC is about 3-400 Euros. Install it before summer !
-
agree with fusco - i was running stage 2+ for a couple of months over the summer before the forge was fitted
definite drop in performance on a hot day after some spirited driving - i also noticed when wearing shorts how hot my legs got down by the pedals - felt like there was a electric heater on full whack
-
^^^ x2 (apart from the shorts)
