Well I thought I was going to celebrate my first year of GTI ownership yesterday without any unforeseen costs and I nearly did but then last week I heard a rattle coming from the front so I decided to investigate and found the front drivers side spring had snapped. :sad1: not too bad I suppose for a 10 year old 124k car though.

Not at all...and now the perfect excuse for a set of H&R lowering springs all round!
Hope the next years ownership goes as well

Happened on an old car of mine, I drove it for a week with a cracked spring and I don't recommend it!
Very easy to change.
As mentioned, it's a good opportunity to consider a suspension overhaul "Koni FSD's and Eibach lowering springs perhaps?"
Last time I priced all 4 corners it was just shy of a €1000 but UK prices are probably bettter.

Just bought a set of VW Racingline springs as they work out at about the same price as buying just the front 2 OEM springs!
