Title: Rear right reverse light and rear left fog light defective message?!

Hi Guys,

New to the forum and MK5 ownership.

I've got this error message on my display when and the change bulb light comes on. The message reads 'Rear right reverse light and rear left fog light defective'

The problem being there is no rear right reverse light or rear left fog light...

I've changed all the bulbs for new and still get this message. Is this something someone has come across, or am I being trolled by a previous owner's vag-com.

Any Ideas?

I get the same error as I've modded my rear inner lights and I think this can be reset with vcds vagcom if you have one, it's diagnostic cable and software specifically for vw Audi group car (VAG)

Are the bulbs led or standard.

Have you checked:
          - The fuses
          - The wiring loom that connects the boot lid to the body (in the rubber sleeve next to the hinges). Some cars (not specifically MK5 Golf's) get breaks in the wires.
                    - Does the heated rear screen and rear wiper work?

Might be that someone has had a play with VAG-COM so I wouldn't rule that out.

Thanks for the replies guys.
All the lights are working as does the rear wiper, but not the rear washer jet.

I've found this problem on a TT forum, it apparently happened when the vcds was changed from a RHD to a LHD car setup....?

Not sure why someone would have changed my car (RHD) to a LHD system? Joys of used car ownership!

A friend has offered me his cable and vag-com bits to have a fiddle. Time to look up the how-to's...
