I bought the same..
One year later it started acting up.
It lock perfect every time but it does a double lock/unlock which you can hear.

You need a range of torx heads, T20/T25/T30 to my mind.
Removal is handy.
Connecting the wire back up can be slightly tricky but you could get lucky.
I've done it three times now. Took maybe 3 hours first time and 1 hour the third time.

Well quick update .....it did work .....,,after I found the two wires broke in the gaiter!!!@IOMAL, that made me chuckle. I've had my mk5 for a week now and the first job was to fix the rear door lock (not locking). Most threads all pointed at the module so i bought one as you did and after the second door skin removal, realised that replacing the module did not cure the issue. 5 mi items later, found the broken wire in the gaiter.... Soldered that up nicely and left the new lock fitted as you did.

I think that a check of the wires inside the gaiter will now be top of my list if anyone ever had a lock / unlock issue!
