So with a view of changing my camshafts after 100,000 miles and recon cylinder head; I bought some. Only where they were advertised as OEM quality on Ebay, they are three times heavier. They are solid and due to their weight, I would imagine more wear on the chain. Less acceleration and louder engine. Not good is what I am thinking. Whats your views?

No cams will be as good quality as OE and yep, they are hollow as standard to save weight and reduce cam belt load etc etc. Although people running HPFPs or roller follower conversions are adding extra stress to the belt anyway.
I've never seen a set of standard cams wear out, so I'm surprised you're replacing them tbh! You could get some CDL cams as they're apparently the sportiest of all the EA113 engines.

Send them back and either buy new genuine or look for a used set. Surprised they need replacing though
