Title: Newbie needing clutch advice.
Post by: Alex Rhys on April 05, 2017, 02:17:58 am
Hello everyone, ive been lurking in the shadows for a while now. This is my first post and unfortunately its one asking for advice :/

I have just had a stage 1 map and that finished the original clutch @ 130k miles!

Ive read a lot about clutches and where to get them on this forum but soo many of the posts are very old now so wondering if there is a go to place for clutch and DMF kits or if the following link is just worth clicking "Buy it now".

Thanks for any advice guys, I hope to contribute to the forum wherever I can as i intend on always having a 5/6/7+ in the family - Ive had over 25 VW's and always had a Golf on the drive! :P

I went for the Helix Organic with Luk flywheel when mine started slipping after remapping.  Been good so far 1.5 years on.

Ditto.  Although I hate the pedal with the Helix.  It feels like the pressure plate throw isn't enough to fully release the friction plate, which makes the gears sometimes reluctant to engage / disengage, especially when cold.

It hasn't got any worse in that time, but every time 2nd or 3rd struggles to get in, I regret my choice.   I think that's why Awesome stopped selling them.  They only sell the Sachs kit now.
