Title: Won't Start
Post by: djlaing on April 17, 2017, 05:21:45 pm
I have a 2008 mk5 Gti with DSG. My wife tried to start it today and it wouldn't crank. The dash lights come on, radio works and wipers work. When I try to crank it with wipers running they stop. I was told this could be significant.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a dead battery to me.

I don't think the wipers stopping is significant.  Most fuse boxes have a load reduction relay on startup to ensure the starter motor gets the maximum amount of current, and to prevent spikes from damaging sensitive circuits.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. It was the starter motor.
