Hello,
Is the glovebox meant to slam open or open slowly like it's on a gas strut, brothers opens slowly and mine slams open?

Nice and slowly!!! :happy2:

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but was there any update to this issue? I have discovered my new Mk5 GTI has the same issue (glovebox lid slamming open quickly).
Asking around I've heard that this part number could be relevant: 1K0 858 309B - 'Brake element for glove box' apparently. Any ideas or experience to be shared?

Sorry never got round to fixing it just out a load of microfibre clothes in it to help stop the rattle from it. Didn’t think spending £30 for an entire glovebox just to get a small 3mm cog lol. I’ll look up that part though thanks!
