Hi all. Just wondering if anybody has used apex springs on mk5 gti. I just had some 35mm drop springs fitted and to be honest I'm pretty dissapointed. The front has come down nicely and looks perfect but the back looks exactly the same. I haven't noticed any drop what so ever. So just wondering if anybody has apex springs on there's car and if they have had the same problem. My mechanic said there would be a bit of setteling after I have driven it for a week or two but dunno how true that is. Cheers

This is the age old problem with lowering springs: You get the drop you get, and you can't adjust it.
If there's any settling at all, it's more likely to be at all 4 corners than just the rear. So you'll still be stuck with OTT rake.
Two options.
1) try and get hold of some rear springs and adjusters from a coilover kit. You'll be able to tweak the rear ride height to match the front. Problem with this though is that you're mixing and matching spring rates, and if you go too low at the back, your dampers might not last very long.
2) Try and get a refund on the Apex springs, and go for a more tried and tested spring kit, like H&R or Eibach. Of the two, Eibach are also a tiny bit rakey, but not to the point where it looks odd. H&R give more of a level stance. Both kits drop around 30mm.

For what it's worth, VWR springs seem to tuck the back down a little more than the front, which I like. They are a bit raised in the bum as standard, which is helps with weight transfer under acceleration, but isn't the best for looks or cornering.

If somebody could give me an opinion on those two kits ? Or even point me in the direction of some better ones, looking to spend about £500 max for springs and shocks

I've read on another forum people used tt spring seats as there abit thicker then the gti ones which then sit the back perfect match to the front.

The first option seems rather cheap. If you're fitting Bilstein it wants to be the B8 dampers. I didn't click the description, but I'll assume they're not B8s.
AP are steady.
Depends really what you're wanting to achieve. If I was fitting a spring and shock kit I'd go for VWR/B8 dampers and VWR/H&R/Eibach springs.
