Post by: pirelligti on April 30, 2017, 06:53:16 pm
Hello friends,

any experience with foam air filter and with possible turbo damage? I am little bit worry about filtration (foam). Have you long-term experince for example with VWR intake, ramiar etc. Thank you :-)

Ive used foam before and never had any issues. They breathe really well too.

The filter medium itself is secondary to the design of the overall induction system, but any dirt particles that do get through foam or cotton is too small to damage anything.

IIRC a long time ago there were scare stories about the foam itself breaking up and getting into turbos.

I'd assume any decent branded foam filter you can buy today wouldn't have the same issues.

A decent foam filter maintained as per manufacturers instructions is going to be fine I'm sure. The manufacturers probably don't use them as OE equipment as servicing is cheaper/more convenient with a disposable filter. Some won't like the associated induction noise either.

I have a Revo and have had no issues. As per Revo's advice I maintain it as per an ITG filter with the appropriate reccomended products.

Well, I don't think that it can cause any damages to any car. However, before trying any product I would recommend you to view some reviews about air purifiers. Unfortunately, I had such a situation when the air purifier suddenly broke down and began to seriously pollute the salon of my car. And sure, I had to get rid of it quickly and look for something new on the market. Surfing on the internet I accidentally found Dehumidifier Critic (https://dehumidifiercritic.com/best-air-purifier-reviews/) and his review about the best purifier out there. Now I feel that I'm much more informed than was before.
