Btw.. If anyone know what he used to make this blind spot assist - Oh please do share! Since I really want to add this to my car.
Also want the chrome air vent frames! - So anyone?! :D

Hmmm. Quite a cool feature, but I wouldn't want to get into the habit of relying solely on that rather than actually turning my head.

It'd be interesting to read what the manufacturers of cars factory-fitted with these say in the user manuals. Bet my balls it's something along the lines of "This is not a substitute for direct manual observation of the blind spot...".

just very quickly looking into this looks fairly easy to do, i thought it might use the side rear sensors form PLA 2 but the car would have to be literally on top of you, for once it looks like 2 simple control units fitted behind the rear bumper.

the wiring is simple, unit 1- power, can bus and local bus to unit 2.....unit 2 - power, local bus to unit 1 and power out to lights in the mirrors on either side of the car to show up when a car is approaching. here is one of the units found on ebay

interesting next mod?

following up a little the can wires go to a new set of inputs on the latest mk7 gateway called "can extended high" we don't have this as far as i'm aware just yet pin 7 can low and pin 17 can high ? still looking further into it.

Isn't it only audi and VW that has the MIB Pro and MMI seperated with screen and the hardware unit behind/in the glovebox that has the Can extended high?

Might be wrong here though. - Will keep searching for some info. This mod is added to the "to do" list hehe

I've got the 7N0 "AS" Canbus and a 3D Tiguan cluster fitted in my MK5 so this should be up to date.

**** A little more searching for this , and I found out that this feature is already fitted on the VW Phaeton 3D from around 2008. So guess I should work without the extended high can.   Or what do think about this? :) @SI-R32 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1757)

I've got hold of the sensors, plugs, yet another can gateway, my only problem is I don't have colour cluster, I'm hoping to be able to turn it on with adaptation in vcds, if not I'm a little screwed,.

Testing with temporary loom and bits when weather gets better.

One other thing I'm worried about is when enabling extended can on newer gateway this now deals with headlight level control, as I have factory xenons, I might get faults? So a lot to play with but that's part of the fun

Simon.. I thought you already was going on it :D

I also got factory Xenons on mine.. With 3D color cluster from Tiguan and newest 7N0 "AS" canbus.
Haven't got any faults on xenons.

So you can ship out the set to me for testing  :drinking:

Did you go with the mk7 golf set or the passat B7/8? the mk7 set is a whole lot cheaper than set for Passats..

Was thinking to buy this set

But if it'll work with the mk7 set, that will be the way I'm going.. Only problem is the light that shows something is in the blind spot? The mk7 has it in the mirror glass and the Passat has it in the cover. - Which was also the main reason I think the Passat set would be the way to go.

I haven't got a kit, bought both sensors for £127, 2 plugs for £6 will make my own loom up and will fit leds to inside mirror trim, not the mirrors, don't know if the mk7 brackets fit behind the bumper so may just try another way of sticking them to mk5 bumper to save £30 on brackets

Cheers, the only thing I might need is just to turn it on then swap cluster back to my scirocco one, but if I can do in adaptation I'll write it all up for others so see

Thinking I'll fit mine (if I'm getting along with this mod) in the mirrors or maybe in the speaker housing at the door.

Yeah I prefer speaker housing, I've added wires to both mirrors for anti dazzle glass and it was the biggest nightmare ever, so speaker trim is ideal.

I was thinking these possibly?

If they look OK mount into speaker trim

You can also go with the honda indicators like this build.

Now I like that, nice and neat

Thanks for that as it gives me a good idea of angle to mount in a golf for the sensors .

Actually looking forward to this retrofit now when the cost factor is WAY lower than the complete Passat B7/8 set i did find at first hehe. Can't wait to check this box on the retrofit list. Also being the retrofit that the wifey problely will like the most
