Grooved or slotted brake disc which is better ?
-
Generally grooved is stronger less chance of cracking.
-
@Stig_gti (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6407) thanks for the reply where would be the best place to buy some
-
Why do you need them? Just buy some good quality solid discs.
-
I got brembo set up thats why
-
Which brembo setup.... need more information.
-
What you mean ? Its a front setup
-
Brembos can still be used with nornal discs
I have normal pagid with my 4 pots.

Yeah. Which calipers? Brembo what?
-
4 pot gt conversion
-
Bloody hell its like getting bloody out of a stone.
What size discs? 1 piece? 2 piece? What pads are you intending to use?
-
Must be a girl as they all assume men are mind readers.
-
Lool two piece but size im not sure about and the brake pads dont need changing yet
-
So you dont know the size... but you want us to tell you what discs to buy?
Im not trying to be a complete **** here on purpose, but come on..... :signLOL:
-
Lool sorry the previous owner put them on the car so i wouldnt know the size thats why im baffled but is there a way to measure it appologies in advance
-
Some photos might help.
-
Back to the original question, did you mean grooved or drilled? Slotted and grooved usually mean the same thing.
Grooves are OK, but can rumble through the pedal quite a lot if you've got a soft pad.
Drilled holes are pretty pointless tbh.
For a road car, a plain disc is probably the best all rounder.

-
@pudding i was thinking cuz of the brembo set up i thought initialy that ill only be able to use groved or sloted and also whats the size i should get
-
You are gonna have to measure them I am afraid.
-
Alright thanks for your help though :drinking:
-
If plain discs are available in your size with the correct PCD and offset, I'd always opt for a plain surface, or grooves if doing track days.
They look in the 340mm size range, are they proper Brembo 2 piece discs, or solid steel jobs? I've not see a Brembo senior kit.
-
That's not brembo senior it looks like the cupra setup so could be 323mm.
-
@pudding i doubt its the senior kit ill get it measured when i get a chance and update it on here
@rich83 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=709) i think you might be right

Good call. The bolt gives it away. Had these on a mk4.
-
OK cool. Not sure where I got Brembo Senior from. Must have been having a wet dream about brakes again. Did I just say that out loud?

They're pretty damn similar. In fact, I think the LCR caliper is known as the 'Junior'.
As for brake porn...

Blimey! They certainly look like 300kph+ brakes don't they!! :surprised:
I found this video really interesting actually. Stoptech factory tour. They are an American AP Racing / Alcon equivalent. Top stuff!
