Title: Metal tyre valve slow leak?
Post by: MPS on May 09, 2017, 08:21:44 pm
Hi

I have the hollow type Monza 2 wheels with the metal valves. I have a slow leak and I suspect it's coming from the metal valve or one of the o-rings that accompanies it. They're nothing but a PITA and to add insult to injury you can't fit standard rubber valves as they don't fit! How dumb is that?

Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks  :happy2:

yes mate had the same issue, got a couple from vw part no; 1ko-601-361.
also one of my slow air leaks was due to needing the tyre resealed to the rim .

Cheers. Robbing barstewards aren't they? They ditched them with the later Ronal manufactured Monza 2s. I just hope they have stayed with rubber valves on the golf R wheels.

I've also got a slow leak that I've always suspected was the metal valve.

Yes, with the old 17" Monza wheels made by BBS. ALWAYS keep some spares around!

Ah, so its not just the 18s that have the metal valves then?

Tyre valves usually have a removable inner stem, it should be no different on the metal valves in theory?

Do you have a pic of this valve? Think you will be able to replace the whole thing with a standard rubber valve
