Title: HELP!! DODGY SOUND

I have a VW Golf 2.0 GT TDI.. When the car is started and in neutral it sounds like its about to cut off and like jerks. It does this when its started in the morning and when I'm driving and stopped at lights or something. Any ideas on what to look at?
