There's no air coming out of the center console vents. Even with all other vents closed, still nothing. Is this a common thing? I'll be having two nieces in the back on Sunday and want to get it fixed before then, especially with the warm weather coming.
-
do you know if the arm rest was retro fitted or was standard?
-
The car was completely standard when I got it, so I'm sure it's standard.

Same issue here. Would love to hear if you find something's come unsettled somewhere!

Either the pipe has fallen away from its port behind the ashtray, or possibly a flap problem although I believe the rear vents are on all the time, as I don't drive in the back dunno, lastly if the armrest was retro fitted and usually no one can be arsed with doing the job properly and people don't fit the air duct pipe that runs under handbrake under ashtray to port on hvac system

Can't help on this, but a side issue / observation.....I had a test drive of a 2014 baby Range Rover Evoque yesterday(don't shoot me), and that didn't even have any rear vents! WTF - was £34k when it was new, and no rear vents. :stupid:
Going out in my GTI this afternoon, I'll check to see if mine work, and let you know.

Assuming the air pipe is fitted as SI-R32 mentioned, then the rear vent output is pretty poor anyway. It's only a Golf, so doesn't have a separate fan and climate system for the rear vents like luxury barges do.
You just need to experiment with the controls and front vents to see which gives the most output at the back. When I was last messing about behind the dash, it looked like the rear air pipe is shared with the front centre vents, so experiment with those flaps and the relevant air direction button.

Yep, echo what Pudding has said.
Just back from trying mine, and there's not much coming out of the back vents at all. Didn't try shutting off any of the other vents, but that makes sense. Probably worth doing an air con service too, so that what little is coming out, is actually cold.

That pipe is the toughest job on the car!

Is the pipe easy to see or does stuff have to be taken out?
-
It was so long ago I swapped one over I can't remember sorry
