Title: Brakes feel spongy
Post by: Lucastheone92 on May 27, 2017, 08:22:54 am
Good morning.

My brakes have felt pretty crap since I've had the car and the pedal seems to go down quite far.

As far as I'm aware the brake fluid has never been changed (07 gti) and I can't see any leaks.

It's booked in for brake service. Would this help?

Yep sounds like you have air in the system.

While you're at it, may as well replace the fluid with some better stuff than OEM (I.e. Higher boiling point). ATE typ200 is a good economical upgrade (used to be called super blue).

Ok thanks.

Should I replace the hoses for some braided ones or is not worth it if im not tracking my car?

You shouldn't feel much difference if you don't heat your brakes a lot. Keep it simple if you don't push the car that hard.
